Central Island Theater in Chaoyang Park, Beijing

This project is in the central island of Chaoyang Park, conterminous with the south bank of Beihu Lake and opposite a shopping area named Solana.

The roofing area is comprised of nine complete fabric units. The petals enclosing the central shining pearl highlight the flexibility of designing with fabric for constructing membranes.

The membrane materials were imported from Germany and are of high quality, color and luster, with excellent light transmission. The pearl shell design is enhanced with flexible, curving fabric panels and crossing girders. The project’s tensile effect and natural sightlines create a harmonious human surrounding that only fabric can achieve.

The client decided to use this as a main showplace in Beijing’s biggest park.
