Black & White Chair

Kipe’s Upholstery

We designed this chair to be the focal point of our display at our local Home Show. The purpose of this project was to showcase a used, well-built, quality piece of classic furniture in a contemporary custom look.

We bought a basic wing chair from a used furniture store for $50. The fabric was removed and the legs were refinished. The black and white fabrics were cut so that the angles of the sunburst line up across the back, wing, arm and existing feather cushion. The pieces of fabric were then sewn together onto Dacron and muslin to give the back and cushion a quilted look. The completed sections were then applied to the chair to create the overall design. A black rope cording was used in place of a welt cord.

This chair caught the attention of many people at the Home Show and has brought new customers into our shop. It has helped us to show prospective clients our ability to create unique designs.
