Bev’s Canvas Covers

For this project, we made a three-position duck boat enclosure.

The client wanted his own fabric to cover the frame he designed and had installed on his 19-foot duck boat. It needed to be trailerable and entry in the boat had to be easy. There needed to be enough room for three men to be able to stand and sit in the boat comfortably yet remain mostly hidden. Hunting dogs had to be able to enter and exist the boat easily.

Venting allowed for less pressure when trailering, yet moisture couldn’t get into it. We added strapping that we made from his camouflage fabric to hold real reeds and cattails for more concealment. Not shown is the motor cover which completely concealed the motor down to the prop and was weighed down with shot. Also not shown in the pictures was a cover we made to conceal the lights. The frame was 1-foot square aluminum tubing that we installed snaps in so the fabric would be secure. We used tan, grey and black thread and snaps in different areas to blend better with the fabric. Nothing shiny on the boat could show.The customer wanted an entry where he could easily reach into the boat and access the driver’s area and controls from the ground while the boat was still on the trailer.

The result was beyond the customers expectations. He loved it and used it a lot during duck season.
