Get in the Wind LLC

LiquidTM is a self-standing, portable, fabric display for outdoor use comprised of multiple Windfeather® banners, first displayed at the Cape Fear Kite Festival in Wilmington, N.C. Each banner is 16.5ft tall by 2.5ft wide. Banners are grouped to create an overlapping grouping that makes the best use of Liquid’s unique translucent and light reflecting qualities using the available lighting. The fabric is Dazian’s Mirror Organdy Plus and the pole system is Get in the Wind’s Windstinger epoxy fiberglass modular pole with groundstake and groundwasher.

LiquidTM was designed and manufactured at the request of the Cape Fear Kite Festival.

The LiquidTM project gave Get in the Wind the opportunity to design with light in a new, visually exciting way. The fabric is made with highly polished fibers that reflect light in a rippling and flashing manner similar to silk or a sparkling body of water. Get in the Wind chose to work with a large grouping of a single color to intensify the effect. The addition of 1in by 12ft long silver Mylar® streamers attached to the tip of each banner complemented and completed the light reflective display.

LiquidTM was a tremendous success and quickly became a backdrop for hundreds of photos as tourists and festival members lined up to pose in front of it. The festival was fortunate to have fair winds, and the ground display perfectly complemented the overhead kite displays.

The amount of sunlight, the angle of the sun, the viewing angle and the display arrangement all are factors in how the display appears to the viewer. It was astonishing to see how different the display presented itself throughout the day as all of these factors combined in different combinations.

Since the festival Get in the Wind has completed outdoor long-term testing and is impressed with the lightfastness and overall hardiness of this unique fabric. Get in the Wind now offers the LiquidTM Windfeathers® in six different colors.
